Riverbend Leaders and volunteers

If you want to be a volunteer leader at Riverbend, training is essential as is an understanding of the need for children to be well cared for and protected from harm. HOWEVER simply attending a leadership training camp, or completing a child safe module online or submitting an application form does NOT mean you wil be automatically asked to lead at a Riverbend camp.

Leaders are invited to lead at a Riverbend run camp by the Riverbend Organising Committee only and it is at their discretion.

On this page you will find links to download and read our Child Protection policy and our Leaders code of conduct. Ther is also a link below and here to download the annual application form

If anything will not download for you, please contact Patrick on 0428410532 to request the document/form

Riverbend runs holiday camps for young people in Grades 1-8 during school holidays as well as an annual Youth Camp, an annual Young Adults camp and a mid year Leadership training camp.

To staff these we require committed Christians of all ages who are willing to volunteer their time in running these camps.

There are two levels of leadership at Riverbend.

  1. Level 1 is for people over the age of 17 who have completed an application form and supplied the names and contact details of two referees. They also need a current Working with Vulnerable People card.
  2. Level 2 leaders are trainees aged 14-17 who have preferably attended a Riverbend leadership training camp. If old enough they will have a WWVP card and will have completed a volunteer leader application form.

Leadership Training Camps

Riverbend runs an annual training weekend in May to train and equip our volunteer leaders. The weekend is for volunteers from Grades7/8 upwards and is a vital part of being an effective leader at Riverbend. During the camp, attendees take part in devotions and studies along with a range of seminars/workshops all designed to increase understanding and capacity to work well with children attending our holiday camps.
