Introduction

If you are looking to bring your school group on an overnight excursion to explore the culture, history and environment of Circular Head and the Tarkine, then the Riverbend Youth Centre is the perfect base for you.  The Centre is all under one roof making it a suitable venue for inclement weather and the area has strong links to ACARA curriculum subjects including local history, the environment and indigenous studies.

Accommodation

The campsite features dormitory style accommodation with the ability to sleep 50 boys and 54 girls in the two dormitory sections.  Each dormitory area has 3 cabins with 10 bunks, 3 cabins with 6 bunks and 1 cabin per side with 6 bunks and an ensuite. 

There are also 4 flats each with 4 bunks, 1 single and 1 double bed and ensuites that can be used to accommodate staff. 

Riverbend does not supply bedding in dormitories. Campers need to bring their own sleeping bag or doona and a pillow. Some pillows are available on request. Bedding is available in the Flats upon request.

Indoor facilities

Riverbend has a large commercial kitchen that can be hired for self catering groups with an adjacent dining room capable of seating 100 people.   

There is a small gym area, a room for playing 8 Ball and table tennis and a lounge room. 

For meetings there is a chapel/meeting room with projector and sound capable of seating 100 people.

Riverbend activities

There are a range of activities that can occur on the Riverbend site. Some of these are free and some have a charge.

Inside and outside activities that have a hire charge include an Indoor Bungee run, a Flying Fox, Jumping Pillow, Waterslide, Flying Squirrel (Giant swing), Gyrobix (pictured below), and indoor Jumping castle (for under 12 only).

Free activities include the 8 Ball and Table Tennis tables, Trev’s Alley, Tyre swing, tennis court and playground.

Links to local attractions

  • Tarkine drive including the Milkshakes and Julius River  Rob Saltmarsh available for school groups as tour guide for groups visiting the area covering topics including the Tarkine, it’s early indigenous histories and current history. Costing – $300 a day. Contact Rob on 0427571331

If required, Riverbend staff can assist with bookings of local attractions

Bookings

There are catered and self catered options available.  If schools are heading off the campsite to visit attractions in the area,  Rivebend can supply packed lunches as required.
